Margaret is a native of Liberia. She is well known for her love and devotion to children. She has two adult children Mwenda and Joy. Margaret has a heart for children and has touched the lives of many. For the past 18 years, Margaret has helped to improve the lives and academic performance of Special Education and Kindergarten students in Alexandria City Public Schools. She has taught children in Sunday School classes at Bethel World Outreach, VA and 1st AG Alexandria, and tutored children at her home in Alexandria, VA. In 2012, Margaret felt called by the Lord into the mission field in Liberia and beyond where she is giving joy through education and sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Margaret loves seeing a smile on a child’s face.
Mwenda B. Albert Kazadi
Mwenda Kazadi supported his mother, Margaret Brumskine, with starting her vision of serving and empowering vulnerable youths in impoverished communities in West Africa and Haiti. He serves as the Director of Finance & Operations for Joy Givers International, handling the organization’s finance, knowledge management, marketing, program management, budgeting, and logistical needs.
Mwenda’s background is in Corporate Finance and Economic Development. Previously, he consulted with Adam Smith International’s Grow Programme in Monrovia, Liberia. Prior to working with Grow, he worked at Buchanan Renewable Energy in Liberia as a Finance & Strategy Specialist. Mwenda started his professional career working at two leading global technology companies based in the United States, EMC & CSC, in Financial Analyst type roles. Mwenda received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (specializing in Finance) from Emory & Henry College in Virginia, and is also an alumnus of both EMC & Babson College’s Financial Training Certificate Program and SEO’s Global Corporate Financial Leadership Internship Program.
Originally from Oklahoma, Kathy Cullinan lives in Alexandra, Virginia where she taught for several years with Margaret Brumskine. Kathy has shown great energy and enthusiasm as a reading specialist and special education teacher working with disadvantaged children for more than 30 years. Her happiest times as a teacher came when her struggling students discovered the joy of reading. She continues to tutor children with reading difficulties.
Kathy has been inspired by Margaret’s passion and selflessness in creating Joy Givers International for the benefit of young people in her homeland. Kathy is happy to join Margaret’s team. One day soon, Kathy and her husband Tony hope to visit Liberia.
Alexandra Zormelo is a Liberian native who currently resides in America. She is married and is a mother of two, as well as a grandmother. She has a passion for education and children. She works as an educator. Also, she loves to volunteer at her church. She worked in the children’s ministry and helped out backstage during church drama production. She is excited for this opportunity to join the team of Joy Givers International. She cannot wait to see what God has in store for this organization and her position as a team member.
Eileen Steele is a native of Georgetown, Guyana. She is a background investigator and also a financial education volunteer. Eileen enjoys serving others. She leads a Bible study, teaches a children’s Sunday school class, and serves in many other roles at her church.
Hannibal L. Brumskine II, CPA
Hannibal has extensive experience in the financial management of non-profit organizations. He has served as a senior financial officer for a number of major international non-profit organizations. Hannibal currently serves as Senior Director of Finance and Compliance for a nonprofit agency in the Washington DC metro area. Hannibal has more than 10 years of public accounting experience assisting clients in the nonprofit arena establish sound financial management practices.
